Our Engagement Session

We were running late to our engagement photo session because I took too long to get ready. I was apologetic and noted to myself to not be late to our own ceremony and follow the schedule to a t. I know Lendl doesn’t like waiting, but I somehow just run late all the time. Yet he always waits for me without making me feel bad. He’s always patient with me.

We met our photographer, Julia Park, at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and I was finally relieved. Thank God for Julia for quickly adjusting our route since we were behind schedule. I normally freak out or start being anxious when my schedule changes, but I was quite relaxed and just went with the flow. Julia told us to pick a few places that are meaningful to us for our engagement and/or wedding photos. We didn’t really have anywhere specific in mind. We just wanted an urban background with some foliage to go with our theme.

Okay well, I did have an idea of passing by the places we went on our first date that lasted for 12 hours—yes twelve hours! We started at church, got on the bus/subway …

Food is Life

Last week we started our weekend with our pamanhikan. We kind of followed the essential parts of the pamanhikan tradition. Lendl and his family brought in everything from cutlery to food, especially my favourite Filipino food, kare-kare! We had it at my aunt/uncle’s house to also include them and my lolo and accommodate more people. As I said in our vlog, we’ve been engaged for a year and have already started planning our wedding. We still talked about our plans during the pamanhikan, but we didn’t film those conversations to keep our wedding a surprise for our guests.

In our vlogs, you see that we mostly hang out and eat with people. Our fellowship with others begins with a simple sharing of meal or eating together—we bond over food. It’s not so much about the quality of the food, but the quality of our conversations. What do you talk about with your friends? Are you encouraging them? Is it merely gossip about someone else? Always encourage, always lift people up to the Lord!

It’s also important to remember that although these earthly food, earthly things can make it seem like we are full and up to the brim, …

A Family Affair

Recording these events is always fun and special to me and Lendl, because we don’t always get to hang out with everyone. Not all of our families are in Toronto, and our growing friends have their own thing. But we do always make a point to hang out when possible.

The past week was a reminder that community plays an important part in our lives, especially spiritually. Our community is made up of brothers and sisters in Christ, who we also call family, fam, familia, friends, best friends and bff5ever. In His word, we’re reminded to love one another (Romans 12:10), serve one another (1 Peter 4:9-11), encourage each other (Hebrews 10:24-25) and carry each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2-3).

What better way to countdown to the day we get married, but by starting a vlog and sharing it with our community. We also get to share how God is working in our lives.

Thanks friends for not being shy in front of the camera! What’s your favourite part of our Vlog Too?
